TREE: A World in Itself was created for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and adapted for children with various developmental disabilities.
The show is intended for children aged 4 and up who are accompanied by an adult (a friend or a sibling is also permitted to attend) with a paid ticket.
The show is a multi-sensory, interactive universe enveloped in soft light, music, and silence, where five characters continually adapt to meet the needs of their audience. In an intimate and welcoming atmosphere, the performance offers a ratio of one performing artist per child to facilitate numerous personalized interactions with audience members. To ensure a positive experience for all attendees, capacity is limited.
Do you want to explore the enchanting world of trees and feel the fresh morning air? Curl up in mama bird’s soft nest as she keeps her glowing eggs warm. Tiny creatures—plants, bugs, and animals—stop by, while soothing music fills the air. As night falls, the moon rises, surrounded by twinkling stars and the shimmering Milky Way, giving you the energy to stretch your wings and fly like a bright baby bird.
Please note that children must be accompanied by an adult; a friend or a sibling is also permitted to attend.
AMERICAN SIGN LANGUAGE PERFORMANCES
During American Sign Language (ASL) performances, skilled theatrical Interpreters translate spoken words and/or sung lyrics into sign language to assist guests with understanding the performance. The Interpreters work with a Deaf ASL Consultant to translate the production into American Sign Language. The audience can see both the Interpreters and the stage action simultaneously from a designation area of the performance space.
To request an ASL performance, contact us at (513) 977-4157 or ticketing@cincinnatiarts.org.
To ensure that we can accommodate your request, please contact us at least three weeks prior to the performance date.
AUDIO DESCRIBED PERFORMANCES
Audio description is a live narration of the visual aspects of the performance broadcast to visually impaired guests who wear a small receiver (headset). This narration includes pre-show descriptions of the theatre and other important aspects of the performance such as actions, sets, costumes, performers’ body language, and more.
To request an audio-described performance, contact us at (513) 977-4157 or ticketing@cincinnatiarts.org.
