HOUSE COORDINATOR – CINCINNATI MUSIC HALL

Position Summary

The House Coordinator plays a pivotal role in the successful operation and execution of a robust performing arts and events center. This role ensures exceptional guest experience by supporting front-of-house operations; primarily focusing on the direction of the Volunteer Program, including recruitment, training, and administration. Under the direction of the House Manager, the House Coordinator ensures the implementation of front-of-house policies, the scheduling and staffing of the front-of-house department, and serves as a key partner in the execution of events.

Responsibilities

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to: create a culture of positive guest experience, leading by example; modeling exceptional professionalism in all interactions; support front-of-house operations; assisting with event preparation, including staffing/usher assignments and communication of event details; serving as Manager on Duty for events as needed. In collaboration with the House Manager, coordinate staffing schedules and assignments, including Floor Supervisors, volunteer ushers, and Union Ticket Takers; maintain the Volunteer Program database systems; assist and conduct on-site training for front-of-house staff and volunteers; participate in the on-going recruitment, onboarding, and evaluation of volunteers. In collaboration with the House Manager, the planning and execution of volunteer program activities, including parking, gratitude recognitions, annual appreciation celebration, etc.; develop and execute volunteer program communications, including updates on hourly program expectations, policy changes/updates, engagement needs. Develop and maintain front-of-house manuals, procedures, and training materials. Work with other front-of-house teams to support emergency response plans. Maintain front of house supplies, including uniforms, boosters, Assistive Listening Devices (ALD’s), courtesy wheelchairs, sensory bags. Support accessibility initiatives.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be a self-starter and be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:

High School degree or higher, and a minimum of one-year related experience; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities. Prior experience withing the performing arts or other relevant field with significant guest service experience. Volunteer engagement experience highly desired.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:

  • Ability to remain calm and professional in high-pressure situations.
  • Demonstrate the highest level of guest experience focus, with a strong understanding of theatrical performances.
  • Excellent organization skills; proactive at problem-solving and effective at setting priorities and adapting to competing demands.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, including verbal, nonverbal, written communications.
  • Able to work effectively with broad range of people in the community.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Availability to regularly work flexible and irregular hours, including nights, weekends, holidays, and early mornings as necessary to support events and operational needs.
  • Access to reliable transportation that accommodates commuting on-site for variable hours, including during inclement weather conditions.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The position requires the ability to exert moderate physical effort consisting of walking the entire facility and standing for long periods of time, along with work involving some combination of stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, carrying, and pushing/pulling of objects, and manipulate items weighing up to 30 pounds repeatedly without assistance; move easily up and down stairs without assistance; hear calls on radio communication system and verbally respond; react quickly and execute emergency response and crowd control plans; work with regular exposure to noise levels and large crowds standard in performance and concert industry events.
