Tchaikovsky’s Romeo and Juliet, aptly described by its composer as a fantasy, offers some of the most unforgettable love themes ever written. The journey from the passion of young love to its inevitable tragic end, as written by Shakespeare, has enthralled audiences ever since its premiere. Bruckner’s Fourth Symphony, known as the Romantic, follows with majestic horn calls, vast musical landscapes and towering symphonic architecture that leaves the hall resonating with triumph.
