Exhibition Proposal Guidelines

Thank you for requesting information about exhibiting at the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Alice F. and Harris K. Weston Art Gallery.

The Weston Art Gallery is a non-profit exhibition space devoted primarily to the promotion of local and regional artists. Each season is programmed almost two years in advance.

While the gallery accepts unsolicited applications from artists, curators, and organizations on an ongoing basis, these proposals are officially reviewed only in late fall by a committee composed of the gallery director, the assistant director, gallery staff, and invited arts professionals. Recommendations from this committee enable the gallery director to design a season which is presented to the president of the Cincinnati Arts Association and the Weston Art Gallery Support Committee for consideration. Cincinnati Arts Association administers the Aronoff Center, of which the Weston Art Gallery is a part, along with Music Hall. All proposals are given careful consideration but there is a period of time involved in reviewing the submissions. Final decisions regarding each year’s proposals will be made via e-mail or letter shortly following the committee’s review. It is recommended that prospective artists review our Web site archive of past exhibitions for a sense of the Weston’s physical space and the variety of work shown.

Requirements

In order to be reviewed, you must submit the following materials: Artists should send a current résumé and short bio, an artist’s statement, and no more than 10 images of current work on CD, DVD, or USB Flash Drive (as applicable). The preferred format for individual images is JPEG with a minimum resolution of 800 pixels at 72 PPI (pixels per inch) and a maximum resolution of 1920 pixels at 150 PPI on the long edge. It is recommended that you embed image caption information (artist’s name, title, date, media, and dimensions) at the bottom of each picture so that it is easily read by the committee. Please note: electronic files should open in proper size and orientation and should not be embedded in PowerPoint.

Curators should send a current résumé, description of proposed project, and no more than 20 images (see format details above) of proposed artists.

Please note that we do not accept original work, models, or e-mailed submissions. We cannot be responsible for the return of any materials that are sent without a self-addressed stamped envelope. The deadline for proposals every year is September 30. Proposals should be mailed to:
