La parranda is a Puerto Rican Christmas holiday tradition. Usually, after 10 pm, a neighborhood surprises a household by singing and playing instruments. A party, replete with good food, constant music-making, dancing, and bombas, lasts for a couple of hours until the recently surprised household joins the parranderos as they move on to the next house. Our celebration will start and end well before 10 pm, but we hope to capture the festive spirit of community of the parranda.
