The Jazzmeia Horn Approach
2022 Grammy-nominated vocalist Jazzmeia Horn has emerged as one of the brightest stars on the rise in the jazz scene. Experience a master class workshop in which Jazzmeia shares her knowledge about using one’s voice as an artist and being female in the male-dominated Jazz industry. Hosted by Laura Gentry, Board Member for the Jazz Education Network.
In the master class, Jazzmeia will teach singers how to perform Jazz music, with a focus on the qualities and traits of a good vocalist. Through “Jazzmeia's Approach,” she presents a cultured perspective that balances the rich history of Jazz in the African American experience and the spirituality of its essence.
Jazzmeia will demonstrate her approach to stage presence and how to break into the jazz industry, after which she and her pianist will personally instruct seven students from local universities and schools on how to use her performance techniques, As the master class comes to a close, Jazzmeia will discuss the business of jazz and how to establish oneself in the industry with strong business skills. A Q & A opportunity with all master class attendees will be available as time permits.
