Stand in My Shoes

(Creating Harmony & Understanding)

The magic of music and drama helps everyone "See through My Eyes" and "Stand in My Shoes" to develop skills of empathy and understanding. A same-day workshop in one classroom (before the performance) pulls students right into the show, and the audience gets pulled in with them! Small groups of students will demonstrate compromise, how to use "I"-statements, talking things out, sharing, asking for help, and "chance" . . . all in the spirit of fun, adventure, and humor! These ways to resolve conflict and create more harmony can reinforce principles you are working with at school.

Recommended Ages: Grades K-8
Maximum Audience:
  • Performance–450
  • Workshops–30
Length: 90 minutes (one workshop and one performance, 45 minutes each)
Cost: $425 (one workshop and one performance)/$250 additional performance or workshop
Limit No. Sessions: 2

Conflict Resolution Workshops:

They are fun, creative and very hands-on! Students perform skits from a strategy wheel. In one exercise, they stand in giant shoes and:

  1. Argues about a problem
  2. Change shoes with the partner
  3. Verbalize the other person's viewpoint
  4. Change back
  5. Discuss a compromise where each person gives something and gets something
