Wild Carrot

Rise up Singing: The American Folk Song Movement Post-WWII

The years following WWII were prosperous and optimistic years for the U.S. However, under the surface, social activism was rumbling, which was reflected in the folk music of the era. While bringing historical issues and events of the 1940s, 1950s and 1960s into focus through music pioneers like Pete Seeger, Malvina Reynolds and Woody Guthrie, Wild Carrot will also introduce students to instruments and the folk music songwriting process.
