Dancing for the Stars 2013 crowns champs
Chris Seelbach (Cincinnati City Councilman) and his dance pro Doreen Beatrice (Step-N-Out Studio) received a near-perfect score of 39 (out of 40) from the four judges on Saturday, April 13, at the Music Hall Ballroom, taking first place at the Cincinnati Arts Association’s seventh-annual Dancing for the Stars. With an audience of more than 750 guests (a new attendance record), the sold-out event raised over $80,000 to benefit CAA’s Overture Awards – the nation’s largest locally-run high school arts scholarship competition.

For the third year, the Cincy Emerging Arts Leaders is offering an opportunity to join arts executives in an informal lunch discussion on April 17 from 12:00 noon to 1:00pm at the Taft Museum of Art. The discussion will cover the current and future state of the arts and how this impacts the role of arts administrators. Arts administration students, as well as those new to the field and current entry and mid-level arts professionals, artists, and young professionals interested in the arts, are encourage to participate. However, space is limited and registration is required (see below).

2013 OVERTURE AWARD WINNERS
The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of its 2013 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition, held on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater. The competition annually awards $3,000 scholarships to six area students for post-secondary education, with 18 runners-up each winning $500 scholarships. Students are nominated by their schools to compete in one of six disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, Visual Art, or Vocal Music. The scholarship program is the largest of its kind in the United States and was developed to recognize, encourage and reward excellence in the arts among Tri-state students in grades 9-12. There are three levels of competition: Regional, Semi-Final and Final.

Student Art Show 2012
How do the children of Greater Cincinnati see and interpret the world around them? The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) has been exploring this question for ten years through its Student Art Show, which exhibits artwork by local students. This year’s theme is “Celebration.” The exhibition will be on display in the Aronoff Center’s Fifth Third Bank Theater (7th & Main Streets in downtown Cincinnati) from Saturday, May 5 – Sunday, May 13, 2012. CAA and Kenton County School District Chosen for The Kennedy Center's Partners in Education Program
In April 2012, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts will host the 13th Partners in Education Institute. The four-day intensive is designed for arts organizations and school districts interested in partnering together to initiate or expand professional development programs for teachers. The Kennedy Center selected 12 teams of arts organizations and school systems from across the nation – including the Cincinnati Arts Association and Kenton County School District – to participate in the Partners in Education Institute, April 25-28, 2012. The Institute promotes partnerships in communities across the nation between arts organizations and local schools, focusing on the development of education programs for teachers. The information learned at the Institute has proven invaluable to past participants who leave the Kennedy Center with more confidence in their ability to develop their own professional development programs for teachers.

Billy Elliot Dream Award
In partnership with the Cincinnati Arts Association’s Overture Awards and Local 12 WKRC, and in celebration of the upcoming local engagement of Billy Elliot the Musical, Fifth Third Bank Broadway in Cincinnati is proud to announce the Billy Elliot Dream Award.
