The show-stopping musical spectacular that sold-out the Aronoff Center in March of 2009 – marches back onto the stage of the Aronoff Center’s Procter & Gamble Hall on Tuesday, November 30 at 8:00 PM as part of the Cincinnati Arts Association’s 2010-11 “Let’s Play” Season.
These after-hours adventures will be led by Cincinnati Research & Paranormal Studies (CR&PS), a local organization dedicated to investigating, documenting, and researching claims of the paranormal. Janet’s Fund is a grant opportunity for the incremental education and training of operations support staff in Cincinnati’s performing arts community. The endowment fund (valued at more than $500,000) was established by Janet Taylor, a Cincinnati native who spent her lifetime career working in a variety of performing arts management roles. Her last position was as the Vice President and General Manager for the Cincinnati Arts Association. Janet died in October 2006 at the age of 56, leaving a legacy of accomplishments in the performing arts industry. [Read More]
Donna Speigel (owner of The Snooty Fox, a local chain of upscale consignment shops) and her Dance Pro Doug Reynolds, were ready to rumba on Saturday, April 10 at the Music Hall Ballroom, taking the first place prize in the Cincinnati Arts Association’s fourth-annual Dancing for the Stars. With an audience of 500 in attendance (an event record), the event raised more than $40,000 to benefit CAA’s Overture Awards and Academy – the nation’s largest locally run high school arts scholarship competition. The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition, held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater. The competition annually awards $2,500 scholarships to six area students for post-secondary education, with 18 runners-up each winning $500 scholarships. Students are nominated by their schools to compete in one of six disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, Visual Art or Vocal Music. The scholarship program is the largest of its kind in the U.S. and was developed to recognize, encourage and reward excellence in the arts among Tri-state students in grades 9-12. Phil Schworer, an attorney with Frost Brown Todd, LLC, and his Dance Pro Bonita Brockert, literally waltzed past the competition on Saturday, May 23 at the Music Hall Ballroom to take the first place prize in the Cincinnati Arts Association's third-annual Dancing for the Stars. With an audience of nearly 400 in attendance, the event raised $20,000 to benefit CAA's Overture Awards and Academy - the nation's largest locally run high school arts scholarship competition.
Music Hall Installs New Infrared Listening Devices
The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the installation of a new infrared assistive listening system (ALS) at Music Hall. The much-needed improvement to the audience experience was made possible through a generous donation from the Bahmann Foundation (the Foundation also helped to fund the replacement and repair of damaged ALS devices at the Aronoff Center in 2008).
