CAA Fall 2011 Season Announcement

The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) is pleased to announce its Fall 2011 Season – three October events that promise diverse audiences a fun night of music and/or dance at the Aronoff Center. Dancing for the Stars Crowns 2011 Champ

Dr. Tracey Skale (chief medical officer, Greater Cincinnati Behavioral  Health Services) and her dance pro J. Patrick Clements (Dare To Dance Studio – Blue Ash) scored a PERFECT 10 from the four judges on Saturday, April 9 at the Music Hall Ballroom, taking first place at the Cincinnati Arts Association’s fifth-annual Dancing for the Stars fundraiser. With an audience of more than 650 guests (a new attendance record), the sold-out event raised $70,000 to benefit CAA’s Overture Awards and Academy – the nation’s largest locally run high school arts scholarship competition.

Janet's Fund Deadline

Janet’s Fund is a grant opportunity for the incremental education and training of operations support staff in Cincinnati’s performing arts community.  The endowment fund (valued at more than $500,000) was established by Janet Taylor, a Cincinnati native who spent her lifetime career working in a variety of performing arts management roles. Her last position was as the Vice President and General Manager for the Cincinnati Arts Association.  Janet died in October 2006 at the age of 56, leaving a legacy of accomplishments in the performing arts industry.

2010 Overture Awards Winners

The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of the 2010 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition, held on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Aronoff Center’s Jarson-Kaplan Theater.  The competition annually awards $2,500 scholarships to six area students for post-secondary education, with 18 runners-up each winning $500 scholarships. Students are nominated by their schools to compete in one of six disciplines: Creative Writing, Dance, Instrumental Music, Theater, Visual Art or Vocal Music.  The scholarship program is the largest of its kind in the U.S. and was developed to recognize, encourage and reward excellence in the arts among Tri-state students in grades 9-12. There are three levels of competition: Regional, Semi-Final and Final.

The Overture Awards annually provides a $2,500 scholarship to six area high school students for education and training expenses, with 18 finalists each winning a $500 scholarship.

The Cincinnati Arts Association is pleased to announce the winners of the 2009 Overture Awards Scholarship Competition, held on Saturday, March 7, 2009 at the Aronoff Center's Jarson-Kaplan Theater.
