Elegy

Written and directed by Herb DuVal

Norman, a young man on the verge of marriage, of independence, of life, is afraid to take the plunge. His best friend and his fiance urge him to go and begin a new life in another state as the depression closes in on their community. It is the day Roosevelt closed the banks in 1933. His father and the family cook say go, his mother urges caution. The marital tension of a neighboring couple adds to the drama. Finally, in his own quiet way, Norman makes choices that benefit those around him. And in the long run, maybe they served him well, too.
