Clear Stage Cincinnati Presents:
The Lion In Winter
|
December 7 - 22, 2007
It's Christmas, 1183, and the royal family is celebrating! Mom's home from prison! Dad's making big plans! The kids are arguing over who gets the big present! And dad's girlfriend is there too! Come join them as they celebrate this joyous season.
In his last years, King Henry II of England holds Christmas court at castle Chinon to confirm his successor. Present are the contenders for his crown: his sons, Richard the Lionheart, Geoffrey, Duke of Brittany, and young John. To witness this historic moment, Henry has released his wife, Eleanor of Aquitaine, from her imprisonment at Salisbury Tower and summoned King Phillip II, France's young regent to the festivities. With England as the stakes, intrigue, alliances, bargains and betrayals are rampant. Come watch these royals as they twist and turn, manipulate and mangle each other. See who gets the biggest Christmas present of all: England!
