Desert Travels: Tales from the Middle East
Treehouse Shakers
Thursday, April 12, 2012
9:45 AM & Noon
Aronoff Center, Jarson-Kaplan Theater
Desert Travels explores Middle Eastern culture through the retelling of humorous folk stories. The characters of “The Rat Who Bargained Too Much” and “The Fox and the Stork” interact with audiences, teaching them both story-chants and movement. In Treehouse Shakers’ tradition, performers lead the audience members into each magical story with a five-minute movement and storytelling workshop, educating them on the dance parts they will view. Desert Travels is a delightful and colorful celebration that will have audiences dancing in their seats. Join Treehouse Shakers as rats marry princesses, water buffalo belly dance, and hard-working storks outsmart tricky foxes.
