Kenny G Puts Cincinnati In the Mood for Love with Recent Album and Holiday Concert AppearanceCALENDAR INFORMATION
Kenny G holds the record for the best-selling holiday album of all time – Miracles. That recording sold more than 13 million copies worldwide, capping global sales of more than 75 million albums, singles and videos over the past 25 years. His other holiday releases include Faith and Wishes, with time-honored tunes like “Do You Hear What I Hear,” “God Rest Ye, Merry Gentlemen,” and the opening medley of “Deck the Halls / The Twelve Days of Christmas,” and more recently, The Greatest Holiday Classics, which included newly-recorded tracks “We Wish You a Merry Christmas,” Bobby Helms’ eternal “Jingle Bell Rock” and Rogers & Hammerstein’s “My Favorite Things.” He devoted his most recent release, I’m in the Mood for Love … The Most Romantic Melodies of all Time, to newly-recorded all-instrumental versions of recent chart hits like “If I Ain’t Got You” (Alicia Keys), “You’re Beautiful” (James Blunt), and “You Raise Me Up” (Josh Groban). Other choices on the album pay homage to the great 20th Century American songbook, from “The Way You Look Tonight” to Bread’s “If” and Barbra Streisand’s “The Way We Were.” The Seattle native studied accounting at the University of Washington before acquiring his first professional job as a saxophone soloist for Barry White’s Love Unlimited Orchestra in 1976 at the age of 20. After graduating, he toured with jazz guitarist Jeff Lorber before beginning his solo career by catching the attention of legendary Arista founder and leader, Clive Davis. Thus began a recording dynasty that has made Kenny G an enduring force and earned him Grammy, American Music, Soul Train, World Music and NAACP Image Awards, as well as a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
