Tuesday, February 16, 2010 CINCINNATI ARTS ASSOCIATION ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD OF TRUSTEE MEMBERS Brenda Fleissner • Phillip C. Long • Jill P. Meyer • Antonio Muñiz-Olán CINCINNATI, OH – The Cincinnati Arts Association (CAA) announced today the names of four new members to its Board of Trustees: Brenda Fleissner, Phillip C. Long, Jill P. Meyer, and Antonio Muñiz-Olán. CAA’s all-volunteer Board of Trustees, which is currently sized at 35 trustees, is chaired by businessman, Dudley S. Taft. It is the mission of the Cincinnati Arts Association, as the region’s premier promoter of the arts and entertainment, is to use its expertise as a manager, presenter, and educator to offer a broad range of high quality performing and visual arts programs, develop diverse audiences, foster an appreciation of the arts and understanding of their forms, and encourage the use of facilities by local and regional arts organizations. As enthusiastic and active users and supporters of the arts in Greater Cincinnati, CAA Trustees are charged to promote the merits of CAA and its programs; bring ideas to the board and staff for opportunities that will further CAA’s mission; attend, support and promote events sponsored by CAA, such as CAA Presents and education programming, gallery opening and exhibition, and special CAA benefit events; attend Board and assigned committee meetings each year; actively participate in the work of the organization; and make a financial contribution to the organization. “We are delighted to welcome these community leaders to CAA’s exceptional Board of Trustees,” said Steve Loftin, President and Executive Director of the Cincinnati Arts Association. “These new members will undoubtedly add a rich diversity of backgrounds, talents, and experience to our Board as they assist us in advancing our mission.” BRENDA FLEISSNER Ms. Fleissner has more than 20 years of public accounting experience, serving financial services clients, primarily registered funds, but also including non-registered funds, banks, broker/dealers, and investment advisers. Ms. Fleissner has extensive experience with SEC registered funds, exchange traded funds, international funds, private equity funds, and derivative securities such as forwards, options, swaps, and futures. Clients served include Touchstone Funds, Huntington Funds, Victory Portfolios, INVESCO Funds, Nuveen Funds, First American Funds, Diamond Hill Funds, Hussman Funds, National City Corporation, and First Financial Bancorp. Ms. Fleissner is a board member of the Greater Cincinnati Mutual Funds Association, Inc. and is the annual moderator and presenter at the Annual GCMFA Accounting Workshop. She also participates in industry seminars sponsored by the Investment Company Institute. PHILLIP C. LONG Mr. Long was the Director/CEO of the Taft Museum of Art from 1994-2007. Prior to being appointed director in 1994, he served on the Museum’s board from 1987-1994 as Vice Chairman, Long-Range Planning Committee Chair, and on the Finance Committee. Mr. Long is a member of the Association of Art Museum Directors. Prior to joining the Taft Museum of Art, he spent twenty years at Fifth Third Bank, where he held the position of Senior Vice President, Trust Officer, and Secretary. Previous to his years with Fifth Third, he served in the Development Office at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and is a graduate of the management training program of J.P. Morgan and Co. and of Tulane University. Mr. Long has served on a number of cultural boards throughout the Greater Cincinnati area, including the Contemporary Arts Center, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, the Art Academy of Cincinnati, the Cincinnati Music Hall Association, Cincinnati Nature Center, Cincinnati Country Day School, Convalescent Hospital for Children, and Spring Grove Cemetery and Arboretum. JILL P. MEYER Ms. Meyer is Member-in-Charge of Frost Brown Todd’s Cincinnati office. She also oversees the firm's advertising practice and is a member of the firm's Strategic Planning Committee. She concentrates her practice on counseling and litigating advertising and media law issues. Meyer represents a wide variety of clients – corporations, advertising agencies, and media outlets – on an array of issues, including advertising review and clearance, sweepstakes and promotions, viral marketing and interactive media, compliance with COPPA and FTC requirements for advertising and websites, intellectual property, right of publicity, advertising-related litigation, and regulatory challenges. She also represents media clients in all aspects of First Amendment and newsroom-related matters, including pre-publication/pre-broadcast review, issues related to access to courtrooms, public meetings and public documents, and defamation and privacy-related litigation. ANTONIO MUÑIZ-OLÁN Mr. Antonio Muñiz-Olán is founder, president and CEO of Deerfield Insurance Group, a member of Muñiz & Associates LLC. Established in 2005 this organization is the first and only Latino-owned, independent, full-service insurance and financial services organization in the region. Prior to founding Muñiz & Associates, he led the profitable growth of a $40+ million business unit at General Cable Corporation, and spent eight years at the General Electric Company in a variety of roles. Mr. Muñiz-Olán is a founding member and past president of the Cincinnati Chapter of the National Society of Hispanic MBAs and past vice president of the Hispanic Chamber Cincinnati USA. In 2009, he was named the League of United Latin American Citizens’ (LULAC) 2009 Hispanic Business Person of the Year in recognition of his compassionate and visionary contributions in business; and in 2007, he was named to the Cincinnati Business Courier’s Forty Under 40. Committed to volunteerism and community service, Mr. Muñiz-Olán is a member of the Daymar College Advisory Board and Cincinnati Arts Association’s Building Diverse Audiences Advisory Committee, and provides hands-on leadership to Su Casa, Cincy Cinco, YMCA, Butler County Community Alliance, La Voz, and Centro de Amistad – who honored him with the 2006 Alma Latina Leadership Award.
