BDAAC Newsletter September 2011Member Spotlight: Karen Arnold![]() Karen Arnold The Building Diverse Audiences Advisory Committee (BDACC) welcomes one of its newest members, Karen Arnold, who was attracted to BDAAC because of the committee's commitment to education and diversity.
Karen is an avid supporter of the arts, especially music and theatrical performances. The College of Mount Saint Joseph graduate is a native Cincinnatian with a knack for creative writing (she has contributed her talent to this newsletter—see "Imagine That!" article). Karen has authored two published children's books. Dedicated to her granddaughters, the initial book and its sequel are both whimsical tales about diversity and self-awareness. An alumnus of Cincinnati State's interpreter training program, with an emphasis in sign language technology, Karen enjoys facilitating communication and bridging the gap between deaf and hearing communities as much as she loves the performing arts. As a passionate advocate for the deaf community, her goal is to provide equal access to deaf and hard-of-hearing arts patrons. She has interpreted in many venues throughout the city, making manual communication come alive for deaf clients.
